The Bavarian Hauptmünzamt Mint is a German mint in the Bavarian capital of Munich. It exists under different names since 1158 and is the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance. It mainly produces circulation coins for domestically and abroad. The share of coins in circulation in Germany is 21 percent. Since 1871, the mint mark "D is marked" on coins. 2008 was the 850th anniversary of Munich, a series of eleven medals in commemoration of the significance were distributed. In addition to coins and medals, packaging and seal plates are made. The Bavarian Hauptmünzamt in 1947-1948 introduced the Urstempelplatten for the coins of the German mark before the currency reform. The office and production facilities were located since 1986; it was previously located in the old stables.
