The 10 Drachmes is the most traded Greek coin and are also one of the longest lasting in circulation.


These coins have a portrait of Democritus with his name inscribed in Greek. On the rear is an atom, which is why some call this coin "The Atom."


On January 1, 2002, the coin became obsolete at the rate of about .0029347 euros per drachma.
